Kat Pay’s path to email marketing began by accident. In 1996, while she was running her design agency, a client wanted to try something new: email marketing. Kat and her lead programmer developed an email marketing program, or ESP. That initial project quickly grew, and she transitioned from web design to email marketing.

Over her 25 years in the industry, Kat has america cell phone number list  become captivated by the dynamic and evolving nature of email marketing. The original push channel, email engages audiences with its one-on-one, conversational feel. Despite claims that email is outdated, Kat believes it is highly innovative, especially given advances in personalization and the integration of generative AI.

Email remains popular with consumers, even after the era of spam caused by spammers rather than honest marketers. People enjoy receiving offers, purchase confirmations, and insights via email.

Every year someone predicts the death of email marketing because teenagers don’t use it, but as they get older and enter the workforce, email becomes part of their daily lives.

Throughout her career, Kat believes that the key to her longevity in the field has been understanding marketers and consumers, and focusing on delivering value to brands. This requires a deep understanding of consumer psychology and persuasion techniques.

Women’s Contribution to Email Marketing
Kat got involved in the Women of Email movement as soon as it started. She was at the conference where the idea was born and noticed that there was a high ratio of men to women speakers. At the time, there were only a few women, like Jeanne Jennings, Karen Talavera, Stephanie Miller, and Kat Pay. They were called pioneers.

The Women of Email initiative is a safe space where women can support each other.

It wasn’t easy at first – I had to fund myself and only speak out if my insights were valuable. It was a male-dominated world, but support from fantastic men in the industry has grown exponentially.

Before, being a woman in a male-dominated field made you feel unimportant.

Let me tell you a story from my life as a web agb directory  designer to illustrate how challenging it was. I would take my programmer, who was not a business person and never wore a suit, and dress him up for meetings. In these meetings, even though I answered all the questions, the big brands would always direct their questions to him. This was the norm back then, and I understand how challenging it can be.
